About

Keeping to the basics

Gu Table is a hanjeongsik house that puts care and the season into a single meal, built on the deep, unhurried cooking of Jeolla province.

Rather than chase flourish, the kitchen keeps to the basics, so the room stays easy and the meal itself holds your attention.

What finishes a hanjeongsik table is not the main dish alone. The side dishes are made to sit well with rice rather than to shout, and each one prepared that day is what balances the table as a whole.

From choosing the ingredients to cooking and laying the table — keeping to the basics.

A full table at Gu Table: lobster, fatty tuna, abalone, sea bream and an earthenware pot, divided across white plates.

Signature

Three signature dishes

A set lunch at noon; a place on the table in the evening.

Dried corvina set (boribeolgulbi)

₩40,000

Corvina dried slowly over a long stretch, for depth without salt-heaviness. Soft and nutty against rice — an easy first hanjeongsik for anyone new to it.

Seasonal braised fish set

₩50,000

Cooked with whatever fish is fresh that day, so the taste turns with the season. The deep Jeolla seasoning is there, held back just enough to leave the fish itself intact.

Tteokgalbi

₩15,000

Grain-forward tteokgalbi, seasoned lightly so the flavour builds as you chew. It holds its own on a hanjeongsik table and sits well beside a set.

The House

A hanok with a yard

Paper windows run under tiled eaves. The yard holds stepping stones, bamboo and earthenware jars, and a wooden veranda sits around it.

In spring and autumn, when the air is soft, you can eat outside. Guests arriving with a dog can settle at the outdoor tables together.

It suits a family meal, an occasion that matters, or a gathering of friends. Group seating can be arranged for up to 50, and the house can be booked whole.
